LENS Neurofeedback
What Is LENS?
LENS is an advanced form of neurofeedback that offers a significantly faster alternative to traditional methods. Unlike conventional approaches, LENS requires no active participation or learning from the client, allowing for a more seamless experience. Sessions typically last only 3-4 minutes, making it especially suitable for individuals who find it challenging to maintain focus on a computer screen for extended periods. This innovative technique represents a noteworthy advancement in the field of neurofeedback, providing a more accessible and effective option for clients seeking to enhance their mental well-being.
How Does LENS Work?
During a session, sensors are placed on the scalp to capture brainwave activity. Each client possesses a unique EEG signal that is continuously in flux. The LENS accurately measures these fluctuating brainwave signals and tailors the feedback to correspond with the client’s individual neurological profile. The software is designed to identify the Dominant Frequency at any given moment, which is determined by the highest amplitude wave. This information is then mirrored back to the brain, allowing it to receive a subset of the information that it is naturally generating. This information is processed by specialized software designed to extract details about the client’s brainwave frequencies. Utilizing a patented technique, the LENS then delivers feedback directly back to the client’s scalp through the sensors.
This process can lead to a significant reduction or complete resolution of symptoms that previously hindered the client’s quality of life.
The LENS neurofeedback approach offers a notably shorter time frame for achieving results compared to other forms of neurofeedback. Typically, clients engage in a series of sessions ranging from 9 to an average of 11 sessions overall.
Distinct from traditional neurofeedback methods, LENS does not necessitate the client’s conscious effort or attention to stimuli. The duration of each session is brief, generally lasting from a few seconds to several minutes. When treated on a weekly basis, clients can expect an average of around 11 sessions to reach their desired outcomes.
LENS Sessions
The sessions are designed to be brief, typically lasting between 3 to 5 minutes. They are conducted in a gentle manner, allowing clients to feel at ease, often experiencing little to no sensation during the session. The changes resulting from these sessions are generally lasting; however, it is important to note that there are exceptions. For individuals experiencing symptoms of progressive conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), and other neurodegenerative disorders, ongoing sessions are necessary to maintain the improvements observed.
What Conditions Does LENS Help?
The LENS technology is highly effective for addressing various issues related to the Central Nervous System (CNS), which can manifest in numerous ways. Patients may experience symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, attention or focus deficits, behavior disorders, chronic pain, and sleep disturbances. Headaches, migraines, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and emotional disturbances also fall under the range of concerns that LENS can help address. Moreover, it proves beneficial for organic brain conditions such as seizures, those on the autism spectrum, and neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and Parkinsonian issues. These issues are indicative of CNS dysfunction, which often results in the body's inability to self-regulate effectively.
LENS can serve as a primary treatment modality or complement other therapeutic approaches. Its application has been validated across a wide age spectrum, aiding patients from young children to older adults. With over three decades of use, it has been applied to infants as young as three months and has even found to be useful in animals underscoring the versatility of LENS's broad potential in promoting neurological health and well-being.
